Increased toll rates for The Mount Rosser Bypass of the Highway 2000 North/South link are in effect.

The Jamaica North/South Highway Company says the rise in the toll rates for the Linstead to Moneague leg of the highway, is due to a significant increase in maintenance costs.

The higher rates came into effect at midnight.

The application for the rate increase was recently approved by The Transport Ministry.

As such, motorists are now paying the full toll rate chargeable at The Mount Rosser Toll Plaza.

The new rates for Class 1 vehicles is $360 up from $200.

$715 up from $420 for Class 2 vehicles, $1,075 up from $1,000 for Class 3 vehicles and for Class 4 vehicles such as bikes $180 up from $160.

In an advertisement, Jamaica North/South Company says it is now setting the promotion rate and people are being encouraged to post suggested toll fares on its social media site.

The promotion rate is a flexible rate, which could be applied at various times by the company.
