The new fire station, in Old Harbour, St. Catherine, was officially opened yesterday (April 19).

Speaking during the ceremony, Commissioner of the Jamaica Fire Brigade Stewart Beckford, said the facility will serve the Old Harbour community and St. Catherine on a whole.

Noting that the Old Harbour Fire Department responded to over 300 emergency calls last year, Commissioner Beckford lauded the team.

He however, expressed concern about the growing number of bush fires and motor vehicle accidents in St. Catherine.
