Security measures will be implemented to protect the recently built Negril sign in Westmoreland.

This following the theft of solar powered lights that were installed at the location.

The lights were stolen earlier this month.

Speaking with Irie FM News, communication strategist in the tourism ministry, Delano Seiveright, expressed disappointment at the theft, while noting that the lights appear to have been stolen by a professional.

He said while the lights will be replaced, steps will be taken to ensure that they are more secure.

He is calling on residents who may have information on the theft to contact the police.
