Neymar to miss Champions League clash with Real Madrid

by February 27th, 2018

French giants Paris St-Germain have suffered a huge blow to their hopes of securing a place in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

It comes after the news that Brazilian midfielder Neymar is set to miss the return leg round of 16 tie against defending champions Real Madrid after being diagnosed with a fractured metatarsal and a sprained ankle

The 26 year old was injured after rolling his ankle during Sunday’s 3-0 win over Olympique Marseille.

The club said he suffered “a sprain of the right ankle and fissure of the 5th metatarsal,” but did not indicate how long he would be out.

Neymar joined PSG for a world record £200 million pounds from Barcelona last August and has so far scored 29 goals in 30 games.

PSG are currently 14 points clear of second-placed Monaco in Ligue 1 but trail Real Madrid 3-1 from the first leg.

The return leg will be played on March 6 at the Parc des Princes.
