NFL Commissioner Roger Goodel considers reduction of pre-season games

by August 8th, 2017

NFL commissioner roger Goodell wants to reduce the number of preseason games.

The build-up to a new campaign generally consists of four matches and Goodell believes that is too much, citing a lower standard of play and alternative approaches to building a team.

Speaking to a group of giant’s season-ticket holders during a fan forum on Monday at Metlife stadium, Goodell said he would like to see the league reduce the preseason to three games, and perhaps two at some point down the road.

Goodell acknowledged that preseason games shouldn’t be completely eliminated because coaches and executives need the games to make personnel evaluations, and since there are no immediate plans to reduce the preseason schedule, Goodell said he would need to consult with the NFL players association before making any decisions.
