The National Health Fund (NHF) will begin covering the cost of screening examinations for prostate cancer in men older than 40 years.

Health and Wellness Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton announced the benefit, while speaking in Parliament yesterday (December 13).

He noted that prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among men and the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in Jamaica’s male population.

Dr Tufton said Jamaica sees on average, about 1, 500 new prostate cancer cases annually.
