Principal Director of the National Integrity Action, Professor Trevor Munroe has described as unacceptable, the visa requirement for Jamaicans who wish to take their cases to the Privy Council.

The Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, located in the United Kingdom is the highest court of appeal for many Commonwealth countries, including Jamaica.

Speaking at a press conference today (December 9) on corruption and challenges to good governance, Professor Munroe decried the fact that Jamaicans would not be allowed to make their appeals without a visa.

He also lamented the financial costs incurred, not just to obtain the visa, but to secure other elements of the travel to the UK.

Professor Munroe said he hopes that by next year, the country will take steps to remove the King as the Head of State.
