NINE MEDAL HAUL

Jamaica ended it’s campaign at the Tokyo Olympics with a total of nine medals, after securing bronze in the women’s 4×400 meters relay on the final day of competition in Japan.

However, it took brilliant anchor leg run from 400m finalist Candice Mcleod to secure third place.

The quartet that also featured Roneisha Mcgregor, Janieve Russell and Shericka Jackson, clocked 3:21.24 behind the United States team that took the gold in 3:16.85 seconds, followed by Poland who 3:20.53 for the silver.

The American team included 400m hurdles gold medalist and world record holder Sydney Mclaughlin; 400m bronze medal winner Allyson Felix; 400m hurdles silver medalist Dalilah Muhammad and 800m gold medalist Athing Mu.

It was the fifth women’s 4x400m for Jamaica, adding to four previous silver medals.

Jamaica ended the Tokyo games with nine medals including four gold, one silver and four bronze.
