No Jamaican on list of eleven I.A.A.F Nominees for male athlete of the year award

The voting process has begun for the 2019 world athletes of the year ahead of the World Athletics awards in Monaco in November.

No Jamaican is on the list of 11 nominees which were today announced by the IAAF.

The nominees for the 2019 male world athlete of the year are middle distance runner Donavan Brazier of the (USA), …American sprinter Christian Coleman and his compatriot Noah Lyles in addition to Bahamian 400 metres world champion Steven Gardiner.

The list is completed by distance runners Joshua Cheptegei of Uganda, Timothy Cheruyiot of Kenya, and Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya. –

Discus world champion Daniel Stahl of Sweden, Norwegian 400 metres hurdler Karsten Warhol and pole vault world champion Sam Kendrick’s of the United States completes the eleven.

A three-way voting process will determine the finalists.

The IAAF council and the IAAF family will cast their votes by email, while fans can vote online via the IAAF’s social media platforms.

Voting for the male world athlete of the year closes on 4 November. At the conclusion of the voting process, five men and five women finalists will be announced by the IAAF.

The male and female world athletes of the year will be announced live on stage at the world athletics awards on November 23.

The female nominees will be announced tomorrow.
