No word on outcome of Prime Minister’s meeting with Bar Association

by February 27th, 2018

There is no word on the outcome of a meeting today (Feb 27) involving Prime Minister Andrew Holness and representatives of the Jamaican Bar Association.

Attempts to contact President of the Association Jacqueline Cummings proved futile.

And the Office of the Prime Minister has declined to comment on the matter.

Today’s meeting was expected to facilitate dialogue between the parties to reach an amicable solution to the discontent in the legal fraternity about the appointment of Bryan Sykes to act as Chief Justice.

Irie FM News understands that the Bar Association is still contemplating filing a law suit over the Prime Minister’s failure to fill the position of Chief Justice.

Supreme Court Judge Bryan Sykes was appointed on February 1, to act in the clear vacancy created by the retirement of Chief Justice Zaila McCalla on January 31.
