Normal operations resume at Air Traffic Control Centre

by September 12th, 2017

Transport Minister Mike Henry says normal service has been restored to the country’s air navigation system, following a lightning strike last week.

The strike hampered operations at the air traffic control facility at the Kingston Air Traffic Control Centre, resulting in incoming and outgoing flights being affected, for at least 2 days.

Speaking in parliament this afternoon (Sept 12) Mr. Henry noted that engineers and other technocrats worked over the weekend to restore service.

He says over 60 flights were impacted.

The minister says the new system at the air traffic control centre is up and functioning.

He adds that parts are being sourced internationally, in order to effect full restoration.
