The St Ann police say normality has returned to operations at the Ocho Rios lock up after inmates caused a disturbance earlier this afternoon.

Reports are that about 3:15 p.m. a cell search was undertaken at the lock up and prisoners objected to the search and became boisterous.

The incident was later brought under control.

The search of the cells follows a previous incident wherein an inmate was assaulted.

Five inmates have since been charged in relation to the attack.
