Normality returns to Bustamate Hospital

by March 24th, 2017

Operations have returned to normal at the Bustamante Children’s hospital, following a meeting between the management and union representatives.

The meeting was held, after workers at the institution walked off the job yesterday afternoon (Mar 23), demanding improved security.

The protest by health records staff and other workers followed an incident at the hospital on Wednesday night, reportedly involving a parent of a patient, which left a worker injured.

Yesterday, the South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) said only emergency cases were being accepted at the hospital.

However, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Winston De La Haye, says the staff returned to work, following today’s (Mar 24) meeting.

He adds that the worker who was injured in the incident has been discharged from hospital.
