Nurses Association of Jamaica strongly supports call for hospitals and health facilities to commence operating in emergency mode

by January 17th, 2022

The Nurses Association of Jamaica (NAJ) says it strongly supports the call by the Jamaica Medical Doctors’ Association for the Health Ministry to formally declare that all hospitals and health facilities commence operating in emergency mode.

Speaking with IRIE FM news, NAJ President, Patsy Edwards-Henry says too many of the nation’s health sector workers are getting sick with COVID-19, which is placing a tremendous burden on the health system.

Noting that healthcare workers are being called off or denied vacation in an attempt to address staff-shortage, Mrs. Edwards-Henry says this is an indication that the country’s health facilities are dealing with an emergency.
