NWA: more road closures Sunday

by September 7th, 2018

The east and westbound approaches to the Three Miles intersection, along Spanish Town road, in St. Andrew will be closed for 8 months, effective Sunday (Sep 9).

The National Works Agency (NWA) stated that this latest phase of closure is to further facilitate the ongoing bridge construction works at the location.

The project is scheduled to be completed in June 2019.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA Stephen Shaw said the closure will effectively prevent through traffic at the Three Miles intersection.

Alternative routes include Penwood road and Washington Boulevard.

Meantime, the intersection of Windward Road and Mountain View Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic, Sunday.

The closure will be for nine hours, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

The National Works Agency (NWA) said the intersection will be closed to facilitate the connection and testing of new National Water Commission (NWC) pipes.

Shaw said the works will include the excavation of the road surface, and reconstruction of a section of the roadway.

Resulting from the closure, traffic will be prohibited from passing through the Windward road / Mountain View Avenue intersection.

Alternative routes include Cartridge road, Range Crescent, Norman Terrace, Langston road and Homestead road.
