NWA says a number of road ways across the island still impassable

by August 27th, 2021

The National Works Agency, NWA says a number of road ways across the island are still impassable.

This as heavy rains associated with Hurricane Ida led to flooding and land slippages, which caused blocked roads.

Communication and Customer Services Manager at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, says among the affected roadways is the Bog Walk Gorge in St. Catherine.

He says other areas of St. Catherine and Clarendon are also flooded.

Mr. Shaw notes however that the Winston Jones Highway in Manchester which was rendered impassable due to a landslide has been reopened.

He is urging persons not to try to navigate flooded areas.
