NWA urges caution along roadways affected by heavy rains

by April 24th, 2017

The National Works Agency (NWA) is urging motorists to take caution while travelling on roadways in the eastern end of the island which were affected by heavy rains over the weekend.

The NWA is continuing efforts to clear several roads which were impacted by the heavy rains in the eastern end of the island.

Communications Manager at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, told Irie FM News that the agency is being challenged in some areas of St. Thomas, however it has opened some roadways to single lane access.

Mr. Shaw says some roads remain impassable, making it difficult for commuters.

Some of these roads include the stretch from Golden Grove to Port Antonio.

He says single lane access has been created to the Font Hill community and the road from Windsor Forrest to Cedar Valley, which was impacted by landslides.

Meanwhile, Mr. Shaw is advising residents in St. Catherine to take caution when travelling on a section of Old Harbour Road in St. Catherine.
