by July 19th, 2023

An agreement has been reached between the National Water Commission and the trade unions representing workers.

This, after week long talks, amidst the threat of industrial action and the intervention of the Labour Ministry.

The workers were upset about several issues to include a reclassification exercise and compensation review.

The main areas of concern included the conversion methodology and the treatment of travelling officers.

In a statement, Labour Minister Pearnel Charles Jnr. commended the parties for signing the agreement, yesterday.

Meantime, the unions have indicated that based on the agreement employees will be converted in the new compensation review, on various principles.

Also agreed is that the policy regarding increment will be revised so that increments are paid annually and be based on a revised performance management and appraisal system.

The NWC has agreed to adopt $100 for kilometre mileage rate payable across the public sector, upon implementation of the revised salary.
