NWC implements water trucking schedule

by July 29th, 2019

In light of water shortages brought on by drought conditions, the National Water Commission (NWC) has implemented a trucking schedule to supply water to communities in rural St. Andrew.

According to the NWC the Isaac Hole water supply system in St. Andrew, which serves several communities is significantly depleted and is operating at approximately 5% of its normal production levels.

NWC Community Relations Manager for the Eastern Division, Delano Williams says some of the affected communities are Claypole, George Mason, Burnt Shop and Shop Gate.

Noting that water will be distributed to the communities on Wednesdays and Fridays, Mr. Williams is encouraging residents to prepare suitable containers to receive the water.

Meantime, the community relations manager says other sections of the parish are also being affected.

He says the Mona Reservoir is at 32 % of its storage capacity.

Mr. Williams is urging customers to be patient as the NWC continues to implement measures to supply water to those affected.
