NWC promises to truck water to Browns Town; customers without water over holiday period

by December 27th, 2019

Residents of several communities in Brown’s Town, St. Ann are reportedly frustrated over the lack of water in their pipes since Tuesday.

Councillor for the Dry Harbour division in the St. Ann Municipal Corporation, Carlton Ricketts, says residents had to endure the Christmas holiday without water, and he is appealing to the authorities to assist them.

He says, he contacted the National Water Commission requesting that they truck water to the residents.

Mechanical problems at the Minard pumping station forced the shutdown of the facility on Christmas Eve.

In the meantime, the National Water Commission says it will be trucking water to the areas currently without the commodity in Brown’s Town, St. Ann.

This, as the commission has set a new restoration date of January 6, to complete repairs to the Minard pumping station.

Water supply should have been restored on Christmas Day.

The water company says, the delay in restoring supply was caused by mechanical challenges encountered while repairing the damaged pumping unit.

The areas impacted are Browns Town, Huntley, Liberty Valley, York Castle drive, Standfast, Goshen, Minard Hill, Orange Hill, Bennin.
