by May 4th, 2018

The Office of the Children’s Advocate says an investigation will be launched into a voice note purportedly from young girl indicating she was inappropriately approached by a man in a vehicle.

The police, who are probing the incident, say they are aware of the voice note being circulated on social media.

Cops say progress has been made in the preliminary stages of the investigation and updates will follow as soon possible.

In the voice note, the girl who says she is 12-years-old alleges that a man who was driving a truck attempted to have a conversation with her, while she was waiting on a taxi, in a St. Catherine community.

The child also alleges that the man, among other things, asked her age and if she had a phone number.

Speaking with Irie FM News, Children’s Advocate, Diahann Gordon Harrison says the matter will be looked into.

The Children’s Advocate says children who find themselves in compromising situations should use technology to their advantage.
