Olympian Alia Atkinson splashes up third gold at Fina/Airweave Swimming World Cup

Olympian Alia Atkinson continues to fly the Jamaican flag high after she splashed up a gold in the women’s 100m breaststroke at Fina/Airweave Swimming World Cup in Germany yesterday.

Atkinson, who won the 200metres breaststroke on Sunday, clocked 1 minute 03.16seconds to win the event, ahead of Finland’s Jenna Laukkanen who finished second in 1 minute 04.56 seconds with Belgium’s fanny Lecluyse third in 1 minute 05.81 seconds.

It was the third gold medal for Atkinson who earlier in the championship Atkinson won the 200metres breaststroke in 2 minutes 18.96 seconds, to add to the women’s 50metres breaststroke gold.

In the first stop of the World Cup series she won the bronze medal in the women’s 100metres butterfly in Moscow on August 3.
