Olympic Marseille knocked out Europa League

by November 8th, 2018

Last season’s Europa League finalists Marseille have been knocked out of this season’s competition after a 2-1 defeat to Lazio.

Goals from Marco Parolo and Joaquin Correa in the Group H fixture were enough to extend a miserable run for the French side, who have now lost four games in a row in all competitions.

Lazio, meanwhile, went through to the last 32 along with Eintracht Frankfurt, who eliminated Apollon Limassol after a 3-2 victory in the other game in the section.

Oliver Giroud headed Chelsea into the knock out stages in a one nil win over Bate Borisov in Belarus while group-rivals Vidi kept their qualification hopes alive with a 1-0 home victory over Paok Salonika.
Arsenal was held to a goal less draw by Sporting Lisbon, a result that saw then through to the knockout rounds. Qarabag joined Vorskla on three points after winning their match 1-nil.

Anderlecht are out of the competition after losing 2-0 at Fenerbahce, while Dinamo Zagreb advanced from the same group after a 3-1 victory over Spartak Trnava. In Group I, the games between Genk and Besiktas and Malmo and Sarpsborg both finished 1-1.
