Opposition spokesperson on health Dr. Morais Guy is calling on the government to implement mandatory negative PCR test results to facilitate entry into the island, for persons travelling from China.

His call comes after reports of a massive up-tick in covid-19 cases in China.

Dr. Guy says Jamaica is doing well in stemming the covid-19 spread, with the local positivity rate being as low as 3 % in recent weeks, and the mandatory test results will help keep the numbers low.

He adds that the test requirement will keep Jamaica’s mortality rate low, as well as aid in the post covid recovery process.
