by November 24th, 2021

The Opposition, People’s National Party is calling for more clarity from the Education Ministry, surrounding the issue of the settlement agreement for resigned Jamaica College Principal, Ruel Reid.

The Jamaica College Trust recently revealed that the total amount paid to Mr. Reid is $23,296,420.20.

It noted, that of that figure, $16,097,815.13 is to be paid by the Education Ministry, while the Jamaica College Trust will provide the remaining $7,198,605.07.

The Trust also sought to clarify, that neither the school nor the board has paid, or is to pay any money to Mr. Reid, adding that the trust thought it appropriate to use its funds, to assist in closing the Ruel Reid chapter and paving the way for the school to move forward.

However, Opposition Spokesperson for Education, Dr. Angela Brown Burke says there are more questions that need to be answered.
