Opposition calls on government to address high costs of farming inputs

by May 6th, 2022

The Opposition is calling on the government to implement measures aimed at addressing the concerns of farmers, such as lack of access to capital, praedial larceny, and the high costs of production inputs.

Member of Parliament for St Andrew South Eastern, Julian Robinson made the call during a meeting with farmers in Guys Hill, St. Catherine, on Wednesday.

He said the agriculture sector is once again being left by the wayside, leaving farmers worried about their livelihood.

Mr. Robinson expressed concern about the adverse impact on the country if farmers are unable to produce.

He said the government needs to create better access to loans and other funding mechanisms.
