Opposition Senator Floyd Morris expresses concern that PATH is failing to break inter-generational cycle of poverty

by July 24th, 2021

Opposition Senator Floyd Morris has expressed concern that the Programme of Advancement Through Health and Education PATH, is not fulfilling its mandate of breaking the inter-generational cycle of poverty.

Noting that there has been an increase in the number of persons registered in the PATH programme, Senator Morris said this is an indication that the programme’s objective is not being achieved.

He explained that a reduction would be a sign that the programme is breaking the cycle of poverty in the country.

He said part of the problem is that the case management aspect of PATH done by social workers, is woefully inadequate.

He also suggested that more data be revealed regarding the number of path students who have transitioned to the tertiary level.
