Opposition urges gov’t to ensure that all hands are on deck to administer Covid vaccines

The opposition is urging the government to ensure that all hands are on deck to administer the Covid vaccines, over the next 2 months.

300,000 doses of Astra Zeneca vaccine from the United Kingdom are expected to arrive in Jamaica on Friday (July 30).

Opposition Spokesman on Health, Dr. Morais Guy said stakeholders including private sector doctors, will have to be involved in the inoculation process.

He explained that the vaccination exercise, will not see an immediate reduction in cases.

The call from the opposition comes amid reports from the Health Ministry that 181 newly confirmed Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday, (July 27) push the country’s case count to 52,322.

The Health Ministry also reported 3 additional Covid-19 related deaths, pushing the country’s Covid death toll, to 1,182.
