The Opposition, People’s National Party wants the Government to engage school administrators to find out what is happening in the nation’s schools regarding COVID-19.

In the past week, several schools across the island had to revert to the online teaching and learning modality to facilitate deep-cleaning, following reported cases.

Opposition Spokesperson on Education, Dr. Angela Brown-Burke told IRIE FM news that with the number of daily COVID-19 infections over the three hundred mark, focus must be placed on what’s happening in schools.

Although some of the COVID-19 health and safety protocols are no longer mandatory, Dr. Brown-Burke suggests that some of these protocols should still be followed in schools.

Noting that some parents have expressed frustration over the sudden closure of schools, even for brief periods, Dr. Brown-Burke called for dialogue between parents and schools about the potential risks of COVID-19.
