Oshane Thomas four wicket burst gives WI 7 wicket win over Pakistan in ICC World Cup

An explosive 4 wicket haul from man of the match and Jamaican pacer Oshane Thomas and a solid half century from star batsman Chris Gayle gave the West Indies a dream start at the ICC cricket world cup by securing a seven wicket victory over Pakistan in their opening game at Trent Bridge in England.

Thomas with a devastating spell grabbed 4 for 27 from his 5.4 overs, to help blow away Pakistan for a meagre 105 all out in 21.4 overs.

Captain Jason holder got in on action bagging 3 for 42 including the prize scalp of Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed.

Jamaican bowlers snapped up the remaining wickets with Andre Russell snatching and impressive 2 for 4 and Sheldon Cottrell 1 for 18.

Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam 22 runs apiece, along with Wahab Riaz 18 and  Hohhamed Hafeez 16 were the only four players in double figures.

In reply the west indies chasing 106 runs to win achieved their target at 108 f0r 3 with Chris Gayle leading the way with a 34 ball 50 that included six fours and three sixes.

Nicolas Pooran ended unbeaten on 34 while Shimron Hetmeyer was not out on 7.

Shai Hope made 11 while Darren Bravo was removed for a duck…………………..Mohamed Amir bagged all three wickets for Pakistan.

The West Indies will next be in action on Thursday against defending champions Australia also at Trent Bridge.
