Jamaica’s Oshane Thomas is among 71 players who have been released by their respective franchises ahead of the Indian premier league auction to be held in Kolkota on December 19.

Other West Indies players released Carlos Braithwaite – Kolkota Knight Riders, Evin Lewis – Mumbai Indians, and Shimron Hetmeyer by the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

A total of 127 players have been retained including 35 foreigners.

The kings xi Punjab have the biggest  purse of approximately 427  million  U.S. dollars  amongst the 8 teams heading into the auction after they released 8 players.

Defending champions Mumbai Indians have retained 18 players including Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga despite his fitness issues.

3 time IPL champions go into the auction with a meagre purse of 146 million u. s dollars while the Virat Kohli led royal challenger Bangalore outfit roughly  have  28o million us dollars to work with at the auction.
