by February 15th, 2022

Over two hundred persons deemed ‘not fit and proper’, were granted gun licences by the Firearm Licensing Authority, FLA, in the past.

Among them are persons convicted of criminal offences to include murder and rape.

The revelation was made by F-L-A Chief Executive Officer Shane Dalling at a press conference today (February 15).

Mr. Dalling said the discrepancy was observed, when he joined the FLA and a report from the police indicated, several adverse findings for an applicant, who was allegedly involved in gang activity and lottery scamming.

He said this person was still given a licence, even though the then FLA Board was aware of the police’s findings.

He pointed out that in some cases, the individuals were granted the licences just 3 months after being initially denied.

Among the persons, whose gun licence was granted under questionable circumstance, is popular Reggae Artiste, Jah Cure.

Mr. Dalling says in other cases, the alleged criminals got multiple gun licenses.
