Paid parking to be effected in Port Maria, St Mary next week

Paid parking will be introduced in the town of Port Maria, St. Mary, come next Monday, September 2.

 

The St. Mary Municipal Corporation will be implementing the paid parking system along Hodgson Street, Warner Street, Main Street, and Cox Street.

 

Mayor of Port Maria, and Chairman of the Municipal Corporation, Richard Creary, says the aim of the system, is to regularize parking on the streets of Port Maria.

 

 

He says the parking fee is $100 per hour, while $500 will be charged for the first hour for parking in a designated delivery area, with $250 charged for every part thereof, after that first hour.

 

The paid parking system will operate between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. from Mondays to Fridays only.

 

Weekends and public holidays will be free.

 

The Mayor warned that vehicles without a displayed parking permit will be clamped, and its operator charged a removal fee of $3,000.
