Parchment, Tracey, Gaye & McPherson win gold at NACAC Senior Championship in Toronto

Jamaica secured three gold medals on day two of the third NACAC Senior Championships which is being staged at Varsity Stadium in Toronto, Canada after Tyquendo Tracey, Hansle Parchment and Demish Gaye won their individual events.

Tracey won gold in the men’s 100m after clocking 10.03 seconds while teammate Kenroy Anderson failed to cross the finish line after pulling up with an injury.

In the women’s 100m Jonielle Smith captured silver in 11.07 seconds and teammate Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce ended 5th in 11.18. The race was won by American Jenna Prandini in a time of 10.96 seconds.

Parchment in the meantime won gold in the men’s 110m hurdles after posting a time of 13.28 seconds to finish ahead of Aleec Harris (13.49s) of the United States.

Action in the women’s 100m hurdles final saw 2015 world champion Danielle Williams (12.67s) taking silver and American Kendra Harrison winning in a new championship record 12.55 seconds.

Demish Gaye took gold in the men’s 400m in a time of 45.47s while teammate Fitzroy Dunkley (45.76s) took bronze.

The women’s equivalent went to Stephanie-Ann McPherson (51.15s) ahead of Canadian Aiyanna  Stiverne (52.00s) and American Briona Thomas (52.19s) as Christine Day ended 5th in 53.04s.

Earlier Natoya Goule won silver in the women’s 800m after clocking 1:57.95s to finish behind the winner Ajee Wilson (1:57.52s) of the United States. Teammate Simoya Campbell (2:00.98s) ended down the track in sixth.

Jamaica’s first medal was won on Friday when national record holder O’Dayne Richards’ throw of 20.89m saw him claim bronze in the men’s shot put final.
