Parliament pays tribute to Dr Bloomfield; PNP offers reward for information on killers

Parliamentarians today (Feb 5) paid tribute to slain East Portland MP Dr. Lynvale Bloomfield.

The seat normally occupied by Dr. Bloomfield was vacant today, save for a photograph of the late MP and a wreath on the desk.

Members from both sides lauded Dr. Bloomfield for his decades of service to the people of Portland, and the country.

They noted that he served citizens regardless of their political affiliation.

MP’s were also urged to ensure that political supporters refrain from making unsavory comments about the murder of Dr. Bloomfield.

Opposition Leader Dr. Peter Phillips said Dr. Bloomfield was committed to service.

And, Prime Minister Andrew Holness said Dr. Bloomfield’s death should not be used as a political football.

The People’s National Party (PNP) will be undertaking a series of events in honor of late Member of Parliament, for East Portland, Dr. Lynvale Bloomfield.

Dr. Bloomfield was found dead at his home in Passley Gardens, Portland on Saturday.

Speaking at press conference in Kingston this morning (PNP General Secretary, Julian Robinson said the events are being held in observation of Dr. Boomfield’s outstanding service to his constituency, community and nation.

Mr. Robinson says a condolence book for signing has already been open at the PNP Headquarters in Kingston and more will be opened at various locations.

Meanwhile, the PNP is collaborating with Crime Stop to offer a $500,000 reward for information relating to the Dr. Bloomfield’s death.

A nine night and prayer vigil will be also be held in the constituency.
