The parliamentarians who attended the album launch party of a popular dance hall artiste, recently, will each have to fork out $100,000 in fines, for not adhering to the COVID-19 measures.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness made the announcement today (Mar. 17) while addressing the lower house.

The fines come in the wake of public outrage about double standards after videos and pictures of the politicians attending the event began circulating on social media.

The only politician seen wearing a mask at the event, was entertainment minster, Olivia Grange.

Mr. Holness noted that the cabinet has a late fee system and a similar approach will be taken for the politicians who breached the rules at the launch party.

He has instructed Miss Grange to collect the fines from the offending ministers.
