Former Prime Minister, P J Patterson says with the party’s 5th President Dr. Peter Phillips, the PNP has to cross a new frontier.
Mr. Patterson says there are certain achievements that must be realized under the leadership of Dr. Peter Phillips.
Among them are the eradication of ignorance and poverty as well as to fight against corruption, discrimination and exploitation.
Mr. Patterson adds that the PNP will be combating violence and the scourge of crime and to empower Jamaicans particularly women and children and to release the creative talents of the country’s people.
Mr. Patterson says he expects Dr. Phillips to lead the party to retrofit its engines and attract the tremendous energy which is required.
He adds that Dr. Phillips should be at the forefront of the increasing struggle to change things in the country’s economic and social life.
He is says Dr. Phillips should not only lead by example but that duty demands that the entire political army is disciplined.
Mr. Patterson assured Dr. Phillips that he will not be alone but that he will have the support of all the members of the PNP.
He was speaking at a special delegates conference for the acclamation of Dr. Peter Phillips at the National Arena in Kingston this afternoon (Mar 26).
