by November 13th, 2015

Chairman of the St Ann Parish Development Committee, PDC, Anthony Charlie is demanding urgent action from the parish council to put an end to the unhealthy situation, which he says is developing at the Brown’s Town Market.

Mr Charlie says people are living in the Brown’s Town Market and storing their faeces and urine inside there.

He states that employees are complaining that the situation is becoming unbearable.

Mr Charlie says although the Parish Council has designated opening and closing hours for the market, its doors are always open allowing all kinds of illegal activities to take place there.

He was delivering his report to the general monthly meeting of the St Ann Parish Council (November 12).

The PDC chairman also warned that a similar situation is taking place at the Ocho Rios Market and he is calling on the council to deal with the matter urgently.

Meanwhile, Councilor for the Exchange Division, Delroy Giscombe agreed with Mr Charlie that the Ocho Rios Market is in a very unhealthy state and is in need of urgent attention.

Councilor Giscombe adds that despite the close proximity of the market to the Ocho Rios police station, a lot of illegal activity also takes place there.
