The Pembroke Hall High School teacher, who was captured on video threatening a student with physical harm, has been sent on leave pending the outcome of investigations into the matter.

The incident which was captured on video has been widely circulated on social media platforms.

The Education Ministry, the school’s board and the Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) have all launched probes into the incident.

President of the JTA Owen Speid confirms that the teacher involved in the incident will be off for an indefinite period.

Mr. Speid says he has spoken with the teacher involved.

He adds that the JTA is trying to arrange counselling for the teacher, and hopes that some good will come from the incident.
