Phillips and Holness shocked at murder of Dr. Bloomfield

The President, leadership and entire membership of the People’s National Party (PNP) have expressed shock and sadness at reports of the murder of Dr. Lynvale Bloomfield, the Member of Parliament for Eastern Portland.

PNP President, Dr. Peter Phillips said Dr. Bloomfield devoted many years of his life in service to the Jamaican people as a medical practitioner and as an elected representative.

He said the wanton acts of criminality across the country leave too many individuals and families in mourning, and rob the nation of its best potential.

Dr. Phillips called on the police to use all necessary resources to investigate Dr. Bloomfield’s murder and bring his killer to justice.

Meantime, Prime Minister Andrew Holness has noted that despite being on the other side of the aisle, East Portland MP Dr. Lynvale Bloomfield, cared for and loved his constituents and Jamaica.

Holness expressed shock and sadness at the murder of Dr. Bloomfield at his home this morning (Feb 2).

The Prime Minister said Dr. Bloomfield was a very gentle and humble man and one of the nicest persons he has encountered in politics.

In extending condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Dr. Bloomfield, Holness wished for them comfort in this time of sorrow.

He said a preliminary report from the police assured that they have mobilized a high powered team of investigators to determine the circumstances of his death.

The Prime Minister said he been in dialogue with the Governor General, Leader of the Opposition and the Speaker of House of Representatives expressing condolences, updating them and conveying the assurance of the police.
