PIOJ projects economic growth for first quarter of 2022

The Planning Institute of Jamaica, (PIOJ) says the first quarter of 2022, is already shaping up, to have a positive outcome for the economy.

PIOJ‘s projection is that the January to March 2022 quarter will record growth within the 6 to 9 per cent range.

The institute’s director general Dr Wayne Henry made the projection, while speaking at a press briefing, on Wednesday.

Further growth is expected in the new fiscal year, which begins in April.

Dr Henry noted that, for Jamaica to achieve sustained and robust growth in the medium term, deliberate strategies focused on strengthening resilience must be implemented.
