PIOJ says Jamaica’s economy grew by 6.3 per cent in 2021 third quarter

The Planning Institute of Jamaica, PIOJ says preliminary estimates for the July to September quarter of this year, compared with the similar quarter last year, show that the economy grew by 6.3 per cent.

PIOJ Director General Dr. Wayne Henry made the revelation during a press briefing this morning (November 24).

He said the goods producing industry grew by 2.8 per cent, while the services industry grew by 7.3 per cent.

Dr. Henry cited the relaxation of Covid-19 measures among reasons for the increase.
