PM Andrew Holness says Opposition is engaging in political one-upmanship

by June 30th, 2022

Prime Minister Andrew Holness has chastised the opposition for engaging in what he calls political one-upmanship, in a bid to take advantage of the country’s economic situation and the frustration of citizens.

His comments come in the wake of calls from the opposition to remove the tax on fuel, as part of measures to help citizens cushion the effects of rising fuel and food costs.

The Prime Minister said the frustration of citizens is being diverted for selfish political gain.

Mr. Holness said a leader does not have to be destructive to be effective.

He pointed out that a change in government does not necessarily mean a change in outcome.
