PM defends investment in JDF, emphasizing Gov’t’s commitment to financial investments in the country’s security assets

by February 22nd, 2022

Prime Minister Andrew Holness has defended investments in the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) emphasizing that the Government is committed to making financial investments in the security assets of Jamaica.

Mr. Holness says there is a sense that the Government has spent significantly on the JDF and that the real expenditure should be focused more directly on crime, which would see a greater focus of resources on the police and other law enforcement agencies.

The Prime Minister states that investing in the JDF is investing in all areas of security for Jamaica.

Yesterday (February 21), six Bushmaster Protected Mobility Vehicles (BPMV) were commissioned into service, increasing the number of vehicles in the fleet to 18.

Mr. Holness explains that the BPMV will help in medical evacuation, disaster response, operations in communities challenged with crime and violence, training and border security.
