PM Holness calls on Hanover residents to help in crime fight

by August 17th, 2018

Prime Minister Andrew Holness has called for stronger cooperation between residents of Hanover and the security forces, to further reduce the murder rate in the parish.
Since the start of the year, Hanover has recorded an eleven percent decline in murders.

However, just Wednesday night, the parish was rocked by a double killing.

A woman and her son were sprayed with bullets at their home.

Mr. Holness says although the reduction in crime in the parish is encouraging, there is still cause for concern.

Mr. Holness laments that the behaviour of criminals in Hanover, will ultimately impact negatively on its tourism prospects.

He was speaking at the National Housing Trust ground-breaking ceremony, for Industry Cove, in Hanover, yesterday (Aug 16).
Meantime, the Lucea police are seeking two persons of interest, in relation to Wednesday’s killing of a woman and her son, in Elgin Town, Hanover.

They are Jamar Johnson, and Gavin Seaton, otherwise called ‘Willow’, both of Elgin town.

The men were asked, to turn themselves in to the police by noon today for questioning.

They are wanted in connection with the murders of 44-year-old, Carlene Graver, also called Debbie, and her 24-year-old son, Uton Cckett, otherwise called, Bigger.

Graver and her son were shot and killed at their home on August 14.

Another man was shot and wounded in the incident.

The police are asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of Johnson and Seaton, to contact the Lucea police station.
