Prime Minister Andrew Holness, also expressed concerns about the  decline in voter  participation in the recent general election.

In response to the Opposition Leader’s call for civic education, Mr. Holness said the government would begin to examine ways in which greater civic engagement could be developed.

However, Mr. Holness said, efforts to encourage greater engagement among the voting population must first begin with the members of parliament.

He maintained that the responsibility rests with the country’s leaders.
