Prime Minister Andrew Holness has warned that the country could be placed under tighter Covid-19 restrictions in the coming days.

This following the confirmation of the highly contagious Delta variant and a continued increase in Covid-19 cases.

Mr. Holness says the variant could be the cause of the surge in cases, which is placing a burden on the health system, as a result tighter restrictions may be effected.

Mr. Holness is urging citizens to get vaccinated.

He was speaking at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, this morning (August 19) following the arrival of over 200,000 doses of Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines.
