PNP sets up National Land Ownership Commission

by April 6th, 2017

The People’s National Party (PNP) today (Apl 6) established the National Land Ownership Commission that will assist Jamaicans to obtain registered titles for their properties.

Opposition leader, Dr. Peter Phillips says the commission will provide practical recommendations to reduce the length of time it takes for ownership of land.

He says the initiative is geared at addressing squatter settlements across the island.

Dr. Phillips says some seven hundred thousand Jamaicans are regarded as squatters.

He says the commission is charged to recommend ways of solving the issue.

The five member commission is chaired by attorney at law, Norman Minott.
