Police boost presence in August Town following flare up of gang violence

Police have heightened their presence in august town, following two shooting incidents in the community that left two persons dead, and another in hospital this morning (Oct 26).

Citizens are being asked to remain calm as the police work to restore order in the community.

The police report that the first shooting incident in which one man was killed, took place about 5:35 a.m.

As the police team was processing the murder on Princess Alice drive, they were alerted to another shooting incident on Barrett Drive, also in August Town.

Two people were shot about 8:35 a.m. One of them died, and the other is being treated at hospital.

Investigators say the incidents stem from ongoing gang feud in the area.

In the meantime, the heavy gunfire disrupted classes at the August Town primary school.

Principal of the institution, Morlton Wilson says gunshots rang out after the school’s devotion exercise had started.
