Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson has admitted that Jamaica needs to do something “different” to address the issue of crime and violence in the country.

He was speaking at a symposium on Violent Crime and Criminal Violence in Jamaica and the United States, this morning (July 13).

The two-day symposium seeks to address and critically examine, the crime and violence situation in Jamaica and the United States, as well as possible solutions.

Noting that between January 1 and July 6 this year, Jamaica recorded 760 murders, Major General Anderson said while the crime issue becomes acute at times, it has been consistent over the years and a different approach must now be taken to tackle the issue.
